Literacy Instruction

Improving student learning by implementing best practices in English language arts, content area literacy, and disciplinary literacies.
Literacy is key to life-long learning. It unlocks educational opportunities and opens doors to new learning experiences. When students become stronger readers, writers, speakers, listeners, viewers, and creators, they also become deeper thinkers.
Throughout her career, Honor has continually sought out teaching strategies that support students in developing these skills. As a former English language arts teacher, university instructor of pre-service English teachers, and district literacy specialist, she is always eager to share best practices in literacy instruction with K-12 educators across all content areas.
Honor currently serves as an adjunct faculty member of the Department of Education at Trinity University where she teaches a blended learning course in “Teaching Reading: Literacy in the Content Areas.”
